Suburban Renewal

East Norwich, NY
A warm modern reframe of everyday living

This Long Island renovation and addition transforms a familiar single-family house into a calm, modern retreat that still feels grounded and welcoming. Working with the existing structure, the design opens up sightlines, volumes, and circulation so that daily routines flow easily from entry to kitchen, living spaces, and the new connection to the yard and pool. Large windows, layered lighting, and carefully framed views bring daylight deep into the home and create a quiet dialogue between interior spaces and the landscape.

A restrained palette of wood, stone, and textured plaster is tuned for warmth and tactility, with soft neutrals punctuated by darker elements that anchor the rooms and draw the eye outward. Subtle shifts in grain direction, joint lines, and surface finishes give each space character without relying on ornament, allowing the architecture and crafted details to do the visual work. The result is a home that feels both renewed and enduring – equally suited to everyday family life and gathering with friends.
