Custom homes, considered in every detail.

Argiris Giorgou, a licensed architect since 2007, founded KOPOS Architecture Workshop around the part of the job most people never see: the small details and the right materials that make a house feel like yours.

Every project follows a clear path, from the first conversation through construction.

Argiris Giorgou, AIA

Founder and Architect

KOPOS designs custom homes with a focused attention to every detail. The studio is led by Argiris Giorgou, AIA, and based in East Norwich, on Long Island’s North Shore.

What first drew Argiris to architecture was how deeply it shapes our lives. Apart from what is purely natural or purely virtual, nearly everything we experience happens in spaces someone designed. He takes that seriously, and believes a well-made home can quietly make every day better.

Argiris designs homes that feel calm, modern and built to last. Each project starts with how a family actually lives: where the morning light falls, how the kitchen opens to the garden, and what the house should feel like in August and in January. From there, he works the details all the way down to the joint. He chooses materials like steel, wood and stone because they last and feel warm, and pairs them with softer finishes where people gather.

He has practiced as a licensed architect since 2007. His residential work includes a shingle-style house in Amagansett, taken back to its bones and opened to the dunes with a new addition, terrace and pool. It also includes a site-specific waterfront cabin in East Marion and the expansion of a Colonial Revival home in East Williston. His restaurant interiors, Kalamaki in Roslyn and Trata in Water Mill, show the same knack for making modest spaces feel generous.

Before KOPOS, Argiris founded and ran his own practice for seventeen years as a sole practitioner, and the earlier residential projects shown here are his work from that time. His thirty years in architecture, on New York projects from a Manhattan brownstone to large public buildings, show in the details of every KOPOS home.

Argiris leads every KOPOS project himself, from design through construction. He’s a New York State Certified Code Enforcement Official and an ICC-certified plans examiner, and he also performs code review for various villages on Long Island, so KOPOS drawings are prepared with the reviewer’s side of the desk in mind.

Before founding KOPOS, Argiris designed the Boater’s Cabin, which received an Archi Award Commendation, Unbuilt Projects – Residential, AIA Long Island, 61st Annual Archi Awards (2025).

He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from New York Institute of Technology. He’s licensed in New York, New Jersey and Florida, NCARB certified, and a member of the AIA. KOPOS is based on Long Island’s North Shore and works across Long Island, the Hamptons and New York City.
