First was a need to expand the bedrooms on the second floor to create larger bedrooms for the young couple’s three children while incorporating amenities for the primary bedroom suite. Secondly was a request to rethink an unwelcoming, dark covered patio area at the rear of the house. To achieve the needs of the first requirement, an addition has been proposed over the existing garage, reconfiguring the bedroom layout and creating bright rooms. For the covered patio, we proposed opening the two end walls at either end of the covered patio to create a welcoming outdoor kitchen and dining area. The new crisp space is defined by a palette of warm materials sure to assist in creating memories.
